Sineu

Sineu lies in the middle of the island of Majorca, in the planning (level) and is the furthest from the sea. Of all the villages of the island center Sineu is the most famous one. Every Wednesday there is a market here every weekend - on clothes to fruits, vegetables and animals. And despite the many tourists Sineu has lost any of its originality.
The medieval old town with its ancient monuments and religious buildings has much to offer visitors.

History

In 1300 Sineu was the seat of King James II This should be the capital, in the center of the island, quickly accessible for all. This was some years later the town market rights. At least since the Middle Ages will take place here every Wednesday of the market. This Sineu gained over the centuries the reputation of a trade center. Also, are still being offered, especially animals and agricultural products. King James was there, a Moorish building a palace built in the 16th Century was converted into a monastery, which is still inhabited by nuns.
