Sant Llorenc
Sant Llorenc located in the eastern part of the island belongs to the area of Cala Millor, Sa Coma, Son Carrio and S'lllot. Until the 19th Century, the community lived off of agriculture and animal husbandry. A century later dominated by small businesses such as art embroidery, carpentry and other trades the picture. Today the region lives exclusively on tourism after the '60ziger years in Cala Millor and Sa Coma large tourism centers have been built. The peninsula of Punta de n'Amer between the two places remained vacant and is now a nature reserve.
Sant Llorenc is a community where you can find shops, but also as a stylistic contrast typical Majorcan shops. Everything is neat and clean, which is probably due to the fact that pass through the construction of the bypass road, most drivers in Sant Llorenc, so that an influx of tourists to the city can think of. The great square before the church invites with its variety of plants to stay and the old main road and the narrow streets invite you to stroll.
History
Sant Llorenc been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by finds from this period. Later, the Romans and the Moors were located there. With the conquest by King Jaume I received the nickname of San Llorenc Cardarssar (thistles), which results from a Madonna found in a thistle bush. In the 13th Century church of Santa Maria del Bellver in honor of Our Lady, venerated in Sant Llorenc was built. Middle of the 16th Century was built the new church and it started today.
